Chris Brown Sentenced for Beating Rhianna

Today, August 25, 2009, Chris Brown was sentenced for beating Rhianna. He was ordered to serve 5 years of felony probation, 1 year of domestic violence counseling, and 6 months of community service.


Although many people keep saying for his involvement in the domestic violence case regarding Rhianna. Call it what it is, he was sentenced for beating her, assaulting her, and he did beat her, he hit her repeatedly.(http://www.everythingfabiolus.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/rhianna1.jpg) Maybe he will [never do it again], and hopefully he has learned his lesson, but I can't help but think about all those comments I've read from people defending him and his actions, and how many of them will grow up to be the next Robin Fenty or Anna Mae Bullock? P.S. I did give a slight pause when she still wanted to be around him. I say slight because, it's not that uncommon for the victim to still sympathize with the batterer. And for some reason I feel like they will get back together... Oh well, no matter who you are, you can't tell grown people what to do.

Terrell Owens Son Models for Travis Barker Line

Most people don't know this but, Terrell Owens is a father, and in fact a father twice over. Terrell Owens became a father to Terique Owens on September 25, 1993. Owens also has another child, birthdate unknown, named Atlin Owens who is, as of 2009, still a toddler. It was Owens second son Atlin who was asked to model for FSAS(Famous Stars and Straps) Spring ‘09 clothing line. FSAS is the American clothing and accessory line of [[Travis Barker]].

Priscilla Renea is not a DOLL, She's a SUPERSTAR

Priscilla Renea is a rising music star. She started off singing on youtube, and she has all the vocal chops. Who else can sing the dictionary,(click here) sing it well, with not that great of a camera, and get it featured on the front page?

After her Soulful-Pop vocals were heard far and wide, and the release of her EP, Priscilla got a deal with capitol records, and has so far made a video for her song entitled "Hello My Apple," one of the songs she wrote. (one of my favorites.) Her first single Dollhouse will be released very soon, and you can see, well... more so hear, the official version with lyrics here . I prefer the acoustic version of the song myself (Click here), oh wait that's right did I mention that She plays the guitar and the piano. 


Renea's flexible, versatile, and soothing voice wasn't 3rd discovered (1st: herself 2nd: Youtube Nation) by Capitol Records. Priscilla became apart of the production company Power Entertainment, where she sharpened her songwriting for herself and other artists. She impressed many collaborators with her ability to find inspiration and writing unforgettable songs.

The Youtube singers getting signed really haven't broke out that much, even those with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, although record sales are not that great now, but these singers will always have one thing on their side... Vocal Talent. Hasta Lasagna, I got my EyEs on YA!!

P.S. If her song Hello My Apple, is not turn into a Mac Commercial, then Apple is slipping bad.

OMG GIRLZ!

There is this group that is being put together by Tameka "tiny" cottle, and I believe Kiesha, (they formed a group called Ga Peach) but I think it's mostly Tiny's brainchild.

Anyway the group consists of Reginae "Baby Carter" Carter, (daughter of Lil Wayne and Toya Carter) Zonnique "Star" Pullins, (daugther of Tiny) Bahja "BEAUTY" Rodriguez, and Lourdes "LOLO" Rodriguez. You might have seen them on the BET Awards, they were the little girls who came up on stage when Drake and Lil Wayne were performing "Every Girl," right about the time they got to the chorus: "I wish I could F#*K every girl in the world," can you say bad timing.

Back to the Main Point
They are a young singing group called OMG GIRLZ, and from the 1:26 clip on their myspace, they didn't sound too bad. They sound better then some people people with record deals. In their harmony section I can hear the different voices, at least 2 voices, and there is definitely a lead singer. I think they still need some nurturing but as they grow, especially for one of the ladies, their voices will mature nicely.

IT'S OFFICIAL JUDGE SOTOMAYOR HAS BECOME SUPREME COURT JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR.

Today Federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor was officially sworn in as the 111th, and newest, supreme court Justice. This marks the first time, in 220 years!!, that a person of Hispanic persuasian has ever held the seat of Supreme Court Justice. Sotomayor was confirmed in a vote of 68 to 31 earlier in the week, and was officially sworn in on August 8th 2009 by Chief Justice John Roberts. It should also be noted that she took one oath in Public with family and friends, and then a few minutes later took another oath in private.

John Hughes has Final Curtain Call

John Hughes, the man behind such hits as: The Home Alone Franchise (1-3), The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Flubber, Dutch, Drillbit Taylor and many more, has had his final curtain call at the age of 59.

While visiting family in Manhattan, the Iconic writer,producer, and director passed away of a heart attack after a morning walk.

Hughes is survived by his wife Nancy, his two boys John and James, and his four grandchildren.

I've watched and bought at least 80% of his movies, the man knew how to tell a story. I was a little shocked to hear about his passing, and a little shocked that I haven't heard any more about it in the mainstream, except for the occasional 14 second excerpt. I'm going to watch my Hughes Collection right now, so I'll be busy for the next few days. R.I.P Mr. Hughes.

First Black Supermodel Dies

Naomi Sims, often called the world's first Black Supermodel, has died today at the age of 61 after losing her fight with cancer.

Sims was the first black model on the cover of Ladies Home Journal in November of 1968. Sims often said childhood insecurities such as towering over classmates, living in foster homes, and growing up in a large poor white neighborhood, inspired her to be "somebody really important."

Naomi Sims intended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York in 1966.
Initially she was told that her skin was too dark and was turned down by modeling agencies. However Sims would not be deterred, she sought out photographers and gained a following on her own. In 1973 she quit modeling, being bored with the novelty of being the "black model," and the racial quotas in the industry. In her biography on her website she said "If they use you, it's because you're Black."

Sims went on to design a wig collection aimed at the African-American audience, after seeing that most wigs were aimed at a caucasian audience. Her wig collection eventually expanded fragrances and cosmetics.

Sims also went on to write two books: ‘All About Health and Beauty for the Black Woman’, published in 1986, and ‘How to be a Top Model’. In addition to her books she wrote a column in Right On! Magazine.

For 18 years, 1973 to 1991, Naomi was married to art dealer Michael Findlay.

Sims is survived by her son Robert, daughter Betty, and granddaughter.

I wonder if Tyra read her book, because their stories are kind of similar, the common thread: Do your job well, see a need fill a need, be your own boss, and most important get your money girl.

DEMI LOVATO HAS THE #1 ALBUM

Demi Lovato has the number 1 album in the United States. Lovato's sophmore album, Here we go Again, debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200, beating out Daughtry's sophmore album: Leave this Town.

Something tells me that as long as Demi stays true to her, within the parameters of disney, and protects that voice, she will have many more number 1's to come.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee Pardoned by Kim Jong Il

Journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee have been pardoned by Kim Jong Il after talking with former president of the United States Bill Clinton.

It has been reported that Clinton went to North Korea on the journalists behalf to see if he could arrange the journalists release and/or subsequent pardon.

The Journalists who were sentenced to 12 years of hard labor after their alleged crossing into North Korea were confirmed as pardoned by Ill on August 24, 2009 around 3:38 P.M. Eastern time.

It is unknown at this time when the journalists will be formally released or if the journalists will return with Clinton on his return trip to America.
